Support Nepal Earthquake Emergency

The gross income of May 3 Sunday tournament will be donated to Unicef Canada. Please participate.

26 players came to the tournament today. Cullen, Tiffany, Levon and Hovenes could not make it but donate one day tournament fee. We have a total of $300 to donate to UNICEF for the support of Nepal Earthquake Emergency.

Congrats to Joey Zhong (a national master) who came first in the Ontario Chess Challenge, Grade 9. He is going to play in the national tournament, Canadian Chess Challenge in Quebec City on May 17 and 18. Joey was a Seneca Hill Chess students and now a Seneca Hill Chess Club regular supply teacher. We wish Joey all the best in the CCC!

How to win the Grand Prix cash?

There are 4 tournaments in the Seneca Hill Grand Prix series, and a player can play in any number of them.

A player’s total score will be the sum of their 3 best scores. Players who play in fewer than three tournaments will still have the sum of their scores counted towards the consideration of the prizes, so for example, a player who scores 4 in 2 tournaments (4+4=8) will still finish ahead of a player that scores 2 in 3 tournaments (2+2+2=6). For players who change age groups, their score will be computed separately for each age group, and then the highest of the 2 will be their total score. Read the rest of this entry »
