Free Chess Tournaments

Seneca Hill Chess Club will be organizing free tournaments for students from kindergarten to grade 12, at the Creative Education Centre at Victoria Park and McNicoll.

Dates: April 4, 11, and 18, 2012

Time: 4:00 to 6:30 (drop off after 3:30)

Location: 3570 Victoria Park Avenue, Unit 121, Toronto

Ratings: Chess’N Math Association.

Info: Higher rated players will have longer games. All participants will receive medals or ribbons, depending on their performance.

We will sponsor any of our Seneca Hill students who make it to the Canadian Chess Challenge 2012, in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Attendees of the tournament will receive $100 each from the club in recognition of their accomplishment.

News from Seneca Hill Public School Chess Team

Our primary and junior teams participated in the North Qualifier, TDSB Team Championship on March 23. Both teams won all the 25 games and came first. We will meet the winners of the other 3 regions on May 4 at Lawrence Park CI.

Seneca Hill Chess Club Regional Qualifiers

  • March 4 – grades 7 to 12
  • March 11 – grades 4 to 6
  • March 25 – grades 1 to 3
Sections are divided by grades.
Registration: 12:15 to 12:45, games start at 1:00. Spaces are limited, so preregistration is strongly recommended.
Ratings: Games are rated by the Chess’N Math Association.
Entry fee: $15.
Prizes: Medals for the top three in each grade, ribbons for all participants.

It really was about time that we abandoned our old one.
