Hello Parents and Students of Seneca Hill Chess Club, Hillcrest Chess Club, and Oriole Chess Club. My name is Kyle and I have been playing chess at Seneca Hill for 6 years. During these years, I have learned a lot from here. It has positively benefited my life and I hope it benefits your child’s life as well.
I decided to write Corrina a letter of thanks, and here it is.

Congrats to the Seneca Hill players!
First and third in the K-6 and second in the K-3.
Top teams will go to Kingston to meet the top Quebec teams on June 7.
From the organizer on June 10:
| Corrigendum: On countback – in the K-6 section, 2nd placed Knights of Chess missed fielding all the players from the same school, and therefore the Seneca Hill B team were then awarded the 2nd place. Congratulations Seneca! |

Seneca Hill Teams
Another year! We brought home the two big trophies.
From the organizer:
“On May 9th, Ledbury Park hosted our annual TDSB elementary team chess finals. The top eight teams from each quadrant competed for the coveted Master’s trophy in round-robin format. All qualifying schools made it to the final by virtue of finishing in the top two in their respective qualifying events held throughout March. In total close to five hundred students from across the TDSB represented their schools in this team format.
When the dust settled, the following teams finished on top:
Primary Division: Champions-Seneca Hill PS, 2nd place- Crestview PS 3rd place-McKee PS
Junior Division: Champions- Seneca Hill PS, 2nd place- Cummer Valley 3rd place-Bellmere”
Congrats to our team members, Daniel, Kyle, Ray, Yikang and David, who played in the Toronto Secondary School Chess league finals today (April 25).
Top 2 teams from each of the north, east, south and west of Toronto Secondary Schools meet in the finals. Our team has been invited to participate since 2001.
We played in the Junior Division which is for students Grade 10 and under. We came second today after UTS.
All our members went home with a silver medal and satisfaction. They liked my snacks and I liked their team spirit!
About 50 students and players joined the Seneca Hill Chess Club fun and special event today with chess Grandmasters Eric Hansen and Robin van Kampen. Reena Zhan, our homework helper, conducted an interview with the GMs. Questions were asked by the students about their chess life, chess accomplishments and more…. Read the rest of this entry »
18 of our players played in the TDSB Chess Championship – north quadrant qualifier today (March 21, 2014).
Congrats to all the players, they all did a fantastic job. Both our primary and junior teams came first and advanced to the city finals.
We are pleased to announce that we will be supporting two 2013 WYCC members, Rebecca Giblon and Cindy Qiao who are participating in 2013 World Youth Chess Championship from December 17 to 29 in Al Ain, UAE.
Rebecca is a volunteer on Sundays at Oriole. Cindy is a Seneca Hill PS student.
Each will be presented $100 at one of our January meetings to help with their travel expenses.
Good luck to Rebecca and Cindy!
Good luck to Oriole players: Nicholas, Nameer, Aahil and Mysha too!
