OCC qualifier 1 is a Seneca Hill Grand Prix event. Grand Prix details here.
Who: Student K to G.12 and open. Sections may be combined if less than 12 players in a grade.
A student can play in his/her school grade section or any section(s) above that. – see conditions under prizes and qualification.
When: Saturday, February 15, 2020 March 21, 2020
Where: St. Joseph’s Morrow Park Catholic Secondary School, 3379 Bayview Ave., Toronto, Ontario M2M 3S4
Format: 5 round Swiss pairings. Time control: 25 minutes per player.
Schedule: 1st round 12:00, 2nd round 1:00, 3rd – 2:00, 4th – 3:00 and 5th – 4:00 or earlier. Default time is 25 minutes. Awards after round 5.
If a player doesn’t show up at the start time of the first round (12:00), the clock will be started. The game will be rated. If the player doesn’t report to the TD before the end of the first round, he/she will be withdrawn from the tournament.

Prizes: Trophy for 1st, medal for 2nd and 3rd in each or combined section. Only students in his/her own grade section are eligible for prizes.
Tie-breaks: (1) Buchholz, (2) Head-to-Head, (3) Performance of Opposition
Qualification: 1 out of 10 players (or more) per section will be qualified to OCC 2020 (Sunday, April 26). Students will be qualified only in his/her own grade section. i.e. Entering into other grade section(s) is for practice purpose only.
Free OCC Entries!
All players qualified through Seneca Hill Chess will be automatically entered into a draw for FREE OCC Entries ($75 value each).
3 free entries for the grade section first place winners (G.1 to 12) in Seneca Hill OCC 1.
3 free entries for the grade section first place winners (G.1 to 12) in Seneca Hill OCC 2.
3 free entries for the other players qualified through Seneca Hill OCC 1.
The winners have to successfully complete all rounds in OCC 2020 in order to claim the prize in cash. The cash prize must be picked up at one of the Sunday tournaments by December 12, 2020. One prize per winner.
Grand Prix – Details
In GP1 to 5, players score 2.5, 3, 3.5 will receive $5 Grand Prix money and 4, 4.5, 5 will receive $10 Grand Prix money. This money can be used to pay for any Seneca Hill Grand Prix tournaments in 2019-2020. We accept cash or e-transfer only if you are using this money. To see your GP money balance, please click here. Entry fee and registration:
**A registration is completed when the online form and payment is received.** Spots are limited to 150 players.**
Payment methods:
(1) make an e-transfer payment. (2) pay by credit card – +3 dollars fee (3) cash in person.
$35 paid by March 8, 2020
$45 paid by March 19, 2020 Online registration closes after that.
$55 onsite registration (11:00-11:15a.m.), only if spot is available.
