Canadian Youth Chess Championship

CYCC is a pathway to all international youth chess competitions that determines official representatives for the World Youth Chess Championship (WYCC), the World Cadets Chess Championship, the Pan American Youth Chess Championship and the North American Youth Chess Championship.

  • For players going to CYCC 2019 or any other national and international tournament in the summer, this is an excellent warm up tournament.
  • For players who haven’t qualified yet, this is the last minute opportunity.*
  • For players not going to CYCC, this is your mock CYCC.

Players achieving a score of 2.5 or better in this tournament will qualify to participate in the CYCC 2019. If you are here to qualify for the CYCC, no requested bye is allowed.

Sections:

Under 8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U18 Open and Girls
Age: as of January 1, 2019,
Sections with fewer than 12 players may be combined at the TD’s discretion.
Girls can choose to play in open or girls section.

Location: St. Timothy Catholic School. 25 Rochelle Crescent, North York, ON M2J 1Y3.

Format and schedule:

Date: Saturday June 15 to Sunday June 16.

Round Time: June 15 – 10:30, 2:30, 6:30, June 16 – 10:30, 2:30

Time Control: 60 minutes + 30 second increment, default time is 30 minutes.

Rating: CFC Regular rated for all sections.

Rounds: 5 rounds Swiss (maximum 2 half point byes, round 1 to 4, requested by June 13. No requested bye is allowed for players attempt to qualify)

Entry fee: $70 register by May 26 , $80 register by June 13.

This is a Seneca Hill Grand Prix event. $5 per player will go to the Grand Prix fund. Score can be used for Grand Prix computation. Grand Prix details here.
