2018 Seneca Hill OCC Qualifiers
Who: Student K to G.12 and open. Sections may be combined if less than 12 players.
Option of sections: (A) the student’s school grade or (B) open.
Open section is for likely pre-qualified players (announced by CMA at the end of January) who want the challenge and who want to win OCC FREE ENTRY.
When: Saturday, December 23, 2017
Where: St. Timothy Catholic School, 25 Rochelle Crescent, North York, ON M2J 1Y3 Map
Entry Fee: $30 (Seneca Hill Chess students $20 paid by December 2, see notice)
Schedule: 1st round 12:00, 2nd round 1:00, 3rd – 2:00, 4th – 3:00 and 5th – 4:00 or earlier.
Players MUST check in and pay $30 entry fee to complete the registration between 10:45 and 11:30.
Format: 5 round Swiss pairings. Time controls: 25 minutes per player.
Rating: Rated by Chess’N Math Association – www.chess-math.org
Prizes: Trophy for 1st, medal for 2nd and 3rd in each or combined section.
Tie-breakers for trophies and medals.
(1) Head to head and (2) Performance of Opposition
All players qualified through Seneca Hill will be automatically entered into a draw (after January 31) for FREE OCC Entries ($65 value each). There is at least one Free OCC Entry guaranteed in the open section. 1 out of 30 will win a Free OCC Entry in all other sections. The winners have to participate in OCC 2018 in order to claim the prize.
Qualifier: 1 out of 10 players per section will be qualified to OCC 2018 (Sunday, April 22).
