Two champions came to Oriole today to collect their CFC Grand Prix prizes and CYCC bursaries.

Nathaniel Yong was the Champion of the U12 and Kajan Thanabalachandran was the Champion of U16.

Today Arman Sydykhanov, David Atanasov and Anthony Atanasov appeared at Oriole for the CFC Grand Prix prizes and CYCC bursaries.

Anthony Atanasov was the Champion of the U8.  Besides the two champion trophies and $100 Grand Prix money, he picked up his $200 CYCC bursaries, Champion plaque, high point prize and the 100% attendance souvenir today.

Tianwen Gao

Tianwen started to learn chess in April 2014.  In less than 4 months, she is listed as the top Kindergarten girl in CMA raing!

Sadly, we have to say farewell to Tianwen, as she is moving to US. We will sure miss this adorable and talented student.

Sean Lei

Jonathan Zhao and Sean Lei are big winners of the CFC Grand Prix 2013-2014. All together they won $900 CYCC bursaries, $200 GP money, 8 trophies, 4 medals, 2 plaques and 4 T-shirts!

Jonathan started to play chess when he was in Kindergarten. Within a year, while he was still in Kindergarten, his CMA rating had reached 1000. He has been one of the top players of his age since then.

Sean came to Oriole 2 years ago with both CFC and CMA rating around 800.  His CFC rating is now over 2000! His enthusiasm, sportsmanship, willingness to help….. made him our good role model at the chess club.

Hello Parents and Students of Seneca Hill Chess Club, Hillcrest Chess Club, and Oriole Chess Club. My name is Kyle and I have been playing chess at Seneca Hill for 6 years. During these years, I have learned a lot from here. It has positively benefited my life and I hope it benefits your child’s life as well.

It was a fantastic one! Everyone enjoyed the Tandem Simultaneous Exhibition presented by GM Eric Hansen and GM Robin van Kampen today at Oriole!

There were quite a few no shows who ‘got stuck’ at the Ontario Chess Challenge.  They were doing playoffs and waiting for their trophies. Congrats!

GM Eric Hansen and GM Robin van Kampen are presenting a tandem simul in Toronto!

GM Eric Hansen, a Canadian champion, and GM Robin van Kampen, a chess prodigy from The Netherlands, will be playing 30-40 adults and juniors simultaneously on Sunday, April 13, 2014.

This event is open to any adult and junior chess players.

Date: Sunday, April 13, 2014
Time: 3:00 to 7:00 (Players can arrive any time between  3:00 to 5:30)
Place: Oriole Community Centre, 2975 Don Mills Road W, 2nd floor, Toronto, M2J 3B7
