Canadian Youth Chess Championships – North York Qualifier (NYYCC 2014)
This is a qualifying tournament for the Canadian Youth Chess Championships 2014.
Players achieving a score 2.5 or better will qualify to participate in the 2014 CYCC in Montreal, sponsored by Chess Federation of Canada (Subject to approval by the junior coordinator). The 12 CYCC Champions will be on Team Canada as the official Canadian representatives to the 2014 World Youth Chess Championships in Durban, South Africa.
Sunday, March 30, 2014 Sections: U12, U14, U16 and U18 (Boys and Girls combined)
Sunday, April 6 , 2014 Sections: U8, U10 (Boys and Girls combined)
Age as of January 1, 2014
Sections with fewer than 6 players may be combined at the TD’s discretion.
Format:
5 round Swiss pairings. Time controls: 25 minutes per player. CFC quick rated.
Players may be required to record the games at the TD’s discretion.
**Prizes**
Medals will be awarded to top three boys and top three girls in each section/combined section.
***Special awards***
1 out of 6 players, up to 3 players in each section/combined section will receive a year CFC junior membership (which is required to play in CYCC). Winners will get the free membership if they register CYCC by June 1, 2013
****Cash Scholarships****
Seneca Hill Chess Club is offering a scholarship of $50 cash each to eligible participants in all 12 sections in the WYCC 2014. Please click here for details.

Entry fee: $30 pre-registration by March 28/April 4 (pay onsite); and $40 on site registration if spaces available.

Players check in or register between 12:45 and 1:00 to confirm registration and pay entry fees. Tournament starts at 1:15. Late comers may be allowed to enter the tournament with zero point for the first round.
