We are pleased to announce that we will be supporting two  2013 WYCC members, Rebecca Giblon and Cindy Qiao who are participating in 2013 World Youth Chess Championship from December 17 to 29 in Al Ain, UAE.

Rebecca is a volunteer on Sundays at Oriole. Cindy is a Seneca Hill PS student.

Each will be presented $100 at one of our January meetings to help with their travel expenses.

Sections: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18 (Boys and Girls combined)
Under 8 (Born on or after Jan 1st 2006)
Under 10 (Born on or after Jan 1st 2004)
Under 12 (Born on or after Jan 1st 2002)
Under 14 (Born on or after Jan 1st 2000)
Under 16 (Born on or after Jan 1st 1998)
Under 18 (Born on or after Jan 1st 1996)
Play up is allowed. Example: A player born in 2002 can choose to play in U12, U14, U16 or U18.
Sections with fewer than 12 players may be combined at the TD’s discretion.

Players can participate in any 1 or multiple tournaments.
Format:
5 round Swiss pairings. Time controls: 90 minutes per player.
Saturday 10:30, 2:00, 5:30, Sunday 10:30, 2:00
½ point bye round 1 to 4, maximum 1 bye requested before 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Players must record the moves. Games are CFC regular rated.
CYCC 2014 qualifiers

**Each single tournament is a CYCC qualifier. Players achieving a score 2.5 or better will qualify to participate in the 2014 CYCC in Montreal, sponsored by Chess Federation of Canada (Subject to approval by the junior coordinator). The 12 CYCC Champions will be on Team Canada as the official Canadian representatives to the 2014 World Youth Chess Championships in Durban, South Africa.
**Over $10,000 CYCC Bursary**^^
^^In each tournament:
1 to 6 of players in the section – 1st $50
7-20 players in the section – 1st $100, 2nd $50
Over 20 in the section – 1st $200, 2nd $100 and 3rd $50
Tied players will share the bursary. Bursary will only be given to CYCC 2014 participants. Maximum bursary amount per player is $600.
**Prizes**
1st – Trophy per section/combined section
Medals for overall 2nd and 3rd places plus medals for top 3 girls.
Drop-low average opposition tie-breakers will be used to determine the award of trophies and medals.
Grand Prix

**$1200 cash** to overall winners
(Total score of best 4 tournaments in the same section)
1st $100 per section/combined section

*Plaque* to overall champion in each section
*Souvenir* to players participating in all 6 tournaments or scoring 15 points.
Entry fee:
$40 per tournament – online pre-registration by Thursday before the tournament (pay onsite);
Add $10 late fee per tournament if register after Wednesday.
Registration:
Pre-register online or register onsite between 9:30 and 10:00.
Players MUST check in between 9:30 and 10:00 to confirm registration and pay entry fees. Late comers may enter the tournament from round 2 with 0 point at the TD’s discretion.
